美国驻上海总领事馆新闻文化处将在11月28日（周一）下午 4 点至 8 点举办美国大学夏季短期项目小型展会。在这个小型教育展上，我们邀请了来自7所美国大学夏季短期项目的负责人。他们将对各自学校的夏季短期项目进行介绍。这7所大学包括：波士顿大学、雪城大学、乔治华盛顿大学、科罗拉多大学波尔德分校、弗吉尼亚大学、马萨诸塞大学安姆斯特分校以及圣路易斯华盛顿大学。该展会面向对美国夏季短期项目感兴趣的高中和大学生开放，届时学生和家长将有机会面对面与学校项目负责人沟通交流。EducationUSA 的工作人员也将在现场为大家提供最新留学美国的信息。由于场地原因，此次展会将有两个时间段面向公众开放，分别为下午4点到6点，以及下午6点到晚上8点，请选择注册一个适合您的时间段。
Studying in the U.S. can be about more than4-year programs and advanced degrees. For students looking to get a taste ofU.S. academic life, summer programs at American universities can be a great wayto practice English, learn a new skill, and explore a new culture. To tell youmore, the Shanghai American Center is pleased to hold a U.S. University SummerPrograms Fair on November 28. Program Directors from seven U.S. universitiesincluding Boston University, Syracuse University, George Washington University,University of Colorado Boulder, University of Virginia, University ofMassachusetts, Amherst and Washington University in St. Louis will representtheir own universities and give introductions on their summer programs. Thisfair is open to high school and university level students interested inlearning about short-term summer study programs in the U.S. Students andparents will have the opportunity to talk to the university program directorsface-to-face and ask questions. We will have two time slots open for the fair(4-6pm and 6-8pm) and encourage participants to register for one of these timeslots. Space is limited so please register quickly.

本月起，上海美国中心将推出名为“走近美国”（Explaining America）的最新讲座系列，每次讲座中，会有一位来自领馆的外交官带领大家就某一公民教育方面的话题进行讨论，话题将包括美国在政治、社会、文化等方面的重要发展。首期活动中，我们将关注的是预防家庭暴力和惩罚施暴者这一重要的话题。
This month, the Shanghai American Center will launch a new series called “ExplainingAmerica”, where an American diplomat will run interactive civics educationworkshops to explain key developments in America’s political, social andcultural development.  For our inaugural event, we will look at thecrucial problem of preventing and prosecuting domestic violencecases.  
家庭暴力是一个与全世界的妇女、儿童和家庭息息相关的议题。为提高公众意识，每年11月25日，全球各地的不同组织、机构会联合开展名为“消除性别暴力16天运动”（ 16 Days Against Gender-Based Violence），呼吁大家采取行动来终止针对妇女和儿童的暴力。在美国，联邦政府通过《防止对妇女施暴法》来向家庭暴力的受害者提供援助。活动中，我们会从历史、科学、法律、政治等角度来审视这部法律以及当年时任参议员、现任美国副总统拜登起草并大力支持这部法律通过的过程。
Domestic violence is an issue that affects many women, children and familiesaround the world.  To raise awareness about this issue, every yearstarting on November 25 the world celebrates 16 Days Against Gender-Based Violenceto galvanize action to end violence against women and girls around theworld.   In the United States, the federal government providesassistance to victims of domestic violence through a law called the ViolenceAgainst Women Act.  To better understand this law, we will examine thehistory, science, law and political environment surrounding the act and itspassage, which was championed in part by then Senator (and current VicePresident) Joe Biden.
